Free Tea February!

Throughout February we’re offering our customers up to 50% extra tea free on a range of our best selling, fresh, loose leaf teas!

The loose leaf teas on offer in Free Tea February include some of our most popular and well received, including: Pre Rain Huang Shan Mao Feng from China; Dong Ding Oolong from Taiwan; Organic Ruby Oolong (GABA tea) from Thailand; as well as Doke’s Organic Silver Needle White Tea (Second Flush) from India.

Another Amazing Artisan White Tea Review!

Our delicious Doke Organic Silver Needle 2nd Flush White Tea receives another great review, this time on Teaviews.com where it’s rated 9.1/10!

PS

The image they’ve used is actually of the 1st flush harvest, the second flush looks slightly more like pine needles however, it remains one of the finest white teas we’ve ever tasted and shows the tea making genius of the Lochan family! Artisan tea at its finest.

Purely a vanity post; another photo taken for the interview I gave with Scotland on Sunday. I much prefer this picture of me and if you look closely you can see the top of my leg brace having had my knee reconstructed a week earlier.
This has very little to do with tea - save for the fact I’m holding some Japanese tea caddies - but apparently I need to be updating this blog more!

Sororiteasister, TeaEqualsBliss, has rated our 2nd Flush Organic Silver Needle from Doke’s Garden in Bihar, India 96/100 on Steepster:http://steepster.com/teas/driftwood-tea/30431-doke-organic-silver-needle-second-flushI personally think this tea is one of the ugliest I’ve ever seen however, it has without doubt the most concentrated and beautiful white tea flavours I’ve ever tried; it beats almost all of the finest examples from China’s Fujian Province.James

A driftwood tea Update - Tea Samples & Our New Website

Having listened to your feedback, over the forthcoming months we are beginning to introduce a lot of changes to driftwood tea. This will be happening while we work towards the launch of our exciting new website - coming early next year - which will provide you with clearer information on all 30 teas we currently stock, while also making ordering tea easier and faster - especially for our international customers.

However, begin today we are excited to announce the introduction of The Connoisseur’s Sample Box

Featuring the same six teas that are included in with our popular Connoisseur’s Gift Box, The Connoisseur’s Sample Box contains six, 5g bags of what we consider to be some of the world’s finest spring and summer 2012 harvest teas. The Connoisseur’s Sample Box cost only £5.95.

Just a few of the Spring and Summer 2012 new harvest teas we’re excited to be adding to our online tea shop over the next couple of weeks. I’m especially looking forward to the Thai teas Kelda sourced for us over the summer including some incredible Oolong 17’s and a strangely addictive Sticky Rice Tea!

I’ve also found a new source for Huang Shan Mao Feng and will be adding several new ‘famous Chinese’ teas to our range.

PS

The Oriental Beauty (Dong Fang Mei Ren) is probably the finest tea I have tasted this year! Harvested only a month ago it’s unbelievably fresh and so full of flavour. Simply etherial!

Feeling a little tea drunk this evening having spent the day going through the new samples Kelda brought back from her recent sourcing expedition in Asia. While she has found a lot of very good teas, I have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Thai teas she’s discovered. Thai tea comes from Taiwanese stock, and produced using traditional Chinese methods. I’m really looking forward to stocking at least some of these in our online tea shop soon.
As well as tea she brought back these delightful hand painted aroma cups from Taiwan. I’ve not really ever used aroma cups before, generally just opting to shove my face into gaiwans filled with leaves however, I really enjoyed experiencing the aroma of the fresh summer harvest samples she brought back and can see myself using these again in the future - even if just for fun!

When it comes to tea never work with children or animals…

…or siblings it appears!

For those of you waiting for Kelda’s third entry into ‘On The Road and Buying Tea' well, so are we!

Given her current movements, broken Thai phone, and intermittent internet access contacting Kel recently has been patchy at best. We’ve not heard or received anything from her in the last couple of days however, Facebook updates mean we know she’s at least still alive!
