I love the simplicity of the box used to house the Macaroons here - it takes nothing away from the beautiful colours of the Macaroons themselves.  The Ambassador’s wife was French and had a great eye for style and contemporary cuisine. She loved having Macaroons to offer visiting dignitaries but never ate them herself. I’d never made Macaroons before and followed a very traditional French recipe which I adapted over time. I think I make a pretty mean macaroon! The remain probably my favourite patisserie item to have with cake.
